Young Fathers win Mercury prize!

Shock winners Young Fathers scooped up this years Mercury Prize for their DEAD LP, beating hot favourites FKA twigs, Damon Albarn and Kate Tempest. Since 1992 the Mercury Prize has been considered one of the UK’s most prestigious awards around (previous year’s winners include James Blake, The xx & Portishead). I actually let out a yelp of joy when they announced it on TV and the fact the judges didn’t go for the obvious choice has restored my faith somewhat in the music industry, or at least, the Mercury prize.

The trio from Scotland were interviewed by The Guardian shortly after the ceremony to discuss their victory, what it means to them and their plans for the future. Check it out here.

Well done boys!
